Good morning and welcome to little water tricks. Since I’m on the journey to health and water intake is my first goal, I thought I’d share some ideas I’ve had about water.
Now, I know that may sound boring. However, if you are really interested in being healthier, water is not boring. Water is essential. If you want to know how essential, check out my article Benefits of Water.
If you’re anything like me, you probably already knew that water is critical to life. Geesh, I’m a nurse afterall. But, for some reason, we play games with ourselves throughout our lives and don’t pay enough attention to the most vital components. i.e. water. Thus, why I’ve tried to play water tricks on myself.
As humans, we tend to act like we’ve got all the time in the world. Well, not so much. Time is finite and deep down we know this. Now, I’m not saying walk around with a morbid doomsday outlook all the time. I’m saying live your life to the fullest while paying attention to how to make it the best life possible.
No matter your age, it’s never too late to begin. Afterall, I’m at that phase of life where I’ve screwed up a lot, but I’m turning it around mid-point. I’m also sharing that journey to health so others can see it’s never too late.
Improving water intake is my first commitment and I’m sharing that journey. Now, let’s talk about some little water tricks you can use to assure adequate intake for your body.
Reality Check on Water Bottles & Jugs
There are all sorts of water bottles and jugs available. Some are reusable and some are not. It just depends on your lifestyle and your priortities as to what works best for you.
I’ve tried a bunch of different things, but I wasn’t successful because I had the wrong mindset. My problem has been that I think the thing will help prompt me, remind me, or force me to adhere to the practice I’m trying to initiate. i.e. drinking water
Reality check is…the thing (bottle, jug, reminder, etc.) can’t do it for you, if you don’t have the commitment to stick to a habit. Trust me, I’ve tried. Not intentionally…I’m not that crazy. 🙂 But no matter the little water tricks you try, your effort is still what makes the difference.
Seriously, just like many of you, I have purchased “things” over the years that will improve me, make me be healthier, be a better leader, etc. You know like books and audiobooks and different water bottles, reusables, disposables, different shapes and sizes? I’ve tried tons of them and bought hundreds of books. Some of them never even opened.
So, I know the act of buying “things” to make something happen. When in reality, only you and I can make things happen for ourselves.
Hence, my reality check. I am committing to a minimum of 32 oz a day until I meet that goal for at least three days. Then, I’ll do more. If I do more now, that’s okay, but my goal is simply to make it to my predetermined number.
Meet My Little Water Trick the Bubba Mug
So, this is one of the jugs I’ve purchased over the years in hopes of consuming more water. I’m so busy at work, I often don’t have time or rather take time to go get water across the way. So in comes my thought process to use a bigger jug.
We will see if it works this time with my new mindset attached. If you’re wondering what the new mindset is, it’s that I am in control and I am responsible. I can’t expect my props or anything/anyone to do it for me.
My journey to health begins and ends with me and yours with you. We can keep each other company and hold one another accountable, but bottom line is, we have to perform the action.
Here goes, me and my Bubba mug. You might call this one of my big little water tricks. 🙂 We’ll see you tomorrow for any update on how well we did 🙂
Props are good and props are great
They assist and help us do
But bottomline the only action
Comes inherently from you
If you want success
Then take up the charge
Own your on improvements
And your success will be quite large!
